Pachnie to wszystko jakąś masonerią, a przynajmniej tajnym stowarzyszeniem znudzonych studentów archeologii.

Training highly enigmatic, EA tracks since now three albums towards a fundamentally Funeral Doom Ambient and lyrical. From the first, gravity keeps EA rhythms and hoarse vocals - also relatively uncommon, with priority given to the instrumentation. Of the second, EA implements tasteful and intemperate for almost mystical atmosphere.
To enhance its recipe, EA takes its time, judge by yourself: 23 minutes for Aullu Eina, Taela Mufor 10 small, 18 to Nia Saeli A Taitalae. Anyway, listening to 891 053 can not be conceived in one go, like any initiatory journey worthy of the name. 891 153 891 253 What it takes to dive and bring the listener into his horizons as weighty as lyrical? Side hell riffs telluric, the rhythmic lead, crushing the tempos slow. Side air, arpeggios, keyboards, vocals are very present, very simple in their bill but arranged with a particularly about. This divine mixture is enhanced by a production sufficiently clear and powerful, even more can be made for mixing. Au Ellai has a vision and, better yet, a talent. Not to be missed.

Mysterious EA from Russia recorded new album, which should be heard with attention. Band’s ideology is pretty interesting, sung in ancient language (dead language), I do not know how musicians decided to put such ideas, but I have to admit, they do it very well. Yu know, think out something interesting is not so hard, but this is hard to put those ideas to life, record interesting music… And EA did decent job, even in spite of their music doesn’t have HUGE obscure feelings like that language have to have (you know, ancient times were pretty mysterious and “brutal”). Well, what we have over here. This is doom metal, sometimes sounds like funeral one, and all made with great approach. Slow music with such cosmic atmosphere and with something magnetic inside, something very catching for attention, thx those deep feelings and moods which we can see during listening to “Au Ellai” and which hold your mind close to dead state… I like this piece of obscurity, and I’m dare to say this album could be one of the top albums into doom metal scene, as this is not usual death/sorrow oriented album, but this is something deep, something hidden and something mysterious for our minds (as well as for musicians’ minds of course). They saw music in such way, and I’m agree with them, as they did pretty good work. “Au Ellai” recommended for those listeners who would like listen to something new in its conception. Beautiful, slow and mid-paced music, metal of ancient doom.

Ea are a doom band from Russia and one with lofty ambitions at that. Their lyrics have been written utilising dead languages that have been recreated on the basis of archaeological study so that the voices of ancient civilisations can speak to us across the intervening centuries. ‘Hey baby let’s party’ this ain’t – musically, lyrically or intellectually. Although to be honest the use of these dead languages does mean I am left completely in the dark as to what the ancients might have been trying to say, so maybe they were just suggesting a few cold ones?

Anyway, enough frivolity, it’s just not fitting when discussing the majestic, monolithic doom of Ea. The studied and sombre tones of these three enormous tracks are very impressive. The guitars shift from note to note like the painful footsteps of some wounded, heartbroken giant, the drums rumble like distant thunder and those ancient words of unknown meaning are intoned with such quiet gravity, like raindrops eroding stone. Keyboards paint broad swathes of melancholic colour across the vast, bleak canvases making the overall effect all the more absorbing.

Au Ellai is only recommended to those who like to feel whole civilisations rising up and dying away again between each drum beat – but if you do like your music slow, gargantuan and drowning in sorrowful emotion then Ea will not disappoint. You can actually feel the day passing, watch the sun seemingly race across the sky, when you’re lost in the epic deserts of Ea so don’t start listening unless you have aeons of time to spare and are in the right mood to drift away.

A ’80-as évek elején/közepén több metal stílus bontakozott ki.
Vegyük például a doom metalt.

Ősi civilizációk szakrális (természetfeletti) szövegei szolgálnak kiindulópontul (ezeken alapszanak a dalok) és holt nyelvet használnak, amelyet archeológiai tanulmányok eredményeinek értelmében teremtettek/élesztettek/alkottak újjá, állítottak elő újra.
Végtelenül lassan hömpölygő gitárok, a végzet hangjain megkonduló dobok, billentyűk, zongora, női ének hangfoszlányok, hörgés hallható a dalokban, tehát a funeral doom összes jellemzője felvonul a szerzeményekben. Az elmúlás, a kín, a szenvedés, a gyötrelem, a bánat, a fájdalom, a gyász megtestesítője a muzsika, ugyanakkor érzelmeket felkavaró hatással is bír.

Au Ellai is the final part in a trilogy which started with Ea Taesse and continued with Ea II. While this Russian band’s debut Ea Taesse was light and positive record, its follow-up Ea II was much darker and more severe. Now with Au Ellai the epilogue of EA (Ea is a god in the Akkadian and Babylonian and under the name Enki in the Sumerian mythology.) - trilogy is a path to the roots of the World.

The whole idea behind the creation of this band was that it should be based on the sacral texts of ancient civilizations. Furthermore, the band uses a dead language as a part of their archaeological study. See, this is a very intelligent and dedicated band that knows exactly where they are heading to.

On this new CD the band only included three tracks, but very long and slow ones. It is a down-tempo epic, enigmatic, funeral doom. It is filled with nice atmospherics and ambient elements making it a pleasure to listen to. Since it is a piece of Funeral Doom the band’s mood is pessimistic and with a serious and sorrowful attitude.

One can hear many clean-toned guitar parts that are catchy and melodic too. The vocals however are more death-metal oriented being angry and rasping. Keyboard/piano is the most dominant instrument creating the underlying melancholy and sadness for this kind of music. Furthermore the band includes synthesised violins and other more or less odd effects as they are eager to show-off all of their musical abilities. To times it tends to get a little too-much for me, as it sounds melo-dramatic and confusing. In other words; I think that the band should have focused more on the classic Doom instruments and sounds, rather than creating this messy sound. All of the positive things that I’ve mentioned just earlier are not enough substitutes for lack of direction and structure in theme and music.

If you've heard Ea Taesse and Ea II already, then I would suggest you to complete your collection and give Ea Ellai a chance. However, if you just want to get familiar with this kind of music, then I would say that Ea Ellai is maybe not the most suitable place to begin.

Solitude Productions firmasının son dönemlerde piyasaya sürdüğü albümlerden biri olan “Au Ellai”, Ea’in üçüncü albümü olması mahiyetini taşıyor. Plak firmaları gibi Rusya’dan bizlere merhaba diyen Ea’in eski zaman uygarlarıklarının kullandığı yazılarla ilgilenmesi dinleyiciyi ilk başta biraz şaşırtacaktır. Adını Sümer mitolojisindeki bir tanrıdan alan Ea’in yaptığı çalışma dinleyenlerini epik funeral doom metal tarzında kucaklıyor.

When I read the name I just wanted to scream "Ea, lord of the depths" at the top of my lungs, which I did and it was fun. But now to the review. Ea is a Russian band and very little is known about this band, all I do know is that they play Funeral Doom and that they have released three albums thus far, and this is the latest one. I have not heard their previous two albums so I can not make any comparisons, but if they are anything like this album I will probably like them. This album contains only three tracks, but they are all very long (10, 18, 23 minutes long respectively) which is not uncommon when it comes to Funeral Doom (both the length and the number of tracks) The music is slow and monotonous Funeral Doom and all which that entails, low-tuned guitars, a buzzing bass, basic drum patterns, deep growling vocals. But they also incorporate violin, cello, keyboard, piano and choirs among others to their music which really add to the dreamlike quality of this recording. This is an excellent album with a real feeling of isolation and a truly dark atmosphere.
