After a lengthy hiatus, Nordicwinter came back in a big way in 2020, releasing two new full-length albums "Requiem" and "Desolation" and they show no sign of slowing down as they hit us once again with a new full-length album, "Sorrow", released amidst the dead of winter. This prolificacy should in no way be a harbinger of doubt as the quality of "Sorrow" surpasses even the heights of the 2020 records and raises Nordicwinter to the upper tier of Canadian Depressive / Atmospheric Black Metal. As with its previous records, "Sorrow" examines the darker side of the human condition through somber and melancholic music. Sticking at a mostly mid-tempo pace, the tracks on "Sorrow" (with the exception of the outro) are all between 7-10 minutes in length, and flow with sense and purpose across the record. Utilizing a typical depressive black metal sound, the guitars have the perfect level of distortion to carry a bit of grit while still being clear and allowing the occasional string melody to hover above the mix like a blanket of stars. Meanwhile, the drums and bass provide the necessary backing throughout the record, staying simple but remaining audible and a fundamental part of the album's sound.

Ov Shadows is a Black Metal band from Gothenberg, Sweden. Rising from the ashes of "Waning", a band that all four members previously played in, Ov Shadows introduced their sound with the 2016 self-released EP "Monologues" before releasing its first full-length album "The Darkness Between Stars" in 2018. This summer, Ov Shadows returns with their second full-length and first release on Hypnotic Dirge Records. Entitled "I Djävulens Avbild" (In the Devil's Image), the new record presents Ov Shadows at an unprecedented ferocity and forward-momentum, and apparently very intent on proving that to their listeners immediately, as pummeling drums and a heavy galloping riff fill the speakers within seconds of the opening track "Den Eld Som Tär Och Förvrider." Throughout "I Djävulens Avbild, the pace hardly ever lets up, instead taking you on an all-out sensory assault. The combination of infectious riffs, recurring hooks, blastbeats, and tortured vocals create an enveloping claustrophobic and dark dissonance, as if a shroud has covered your face and defined forms have turned to shadows. Despite its unrelenting nature, the details really shine through on "I Djävulens Avbild" thanks to its clear production, precise musicianship, and deliberate flow. The few times where the record does slow down become quite memorable due to the contrast. The use of powerful percussion and austere bass create a trance-inducing atmosphere while discordant tremolo-picked melodies soar overhead creating a wonderful juxtaposition that crescendos into catharsis. "Ov shadows is about exploring and embracing the dark aspects that dwell within us all – your ‘shadows-self’ as Carl Jung expressed it. ALCATRAZZ - англо-американская heavy metal группа, созданная в 1983-ем году Грэмом Боннетом (ex-RAINBOW) и двумя участниками группы NEW ENGLAND. В разное время в составе ALCATRAZZ побывали такие музыканты как Стив Вай, Ингви Мальмстин, Клайв Бэрр (один из первых барабанщиков IRON MAIDEN) и многие другие. ALCATRAZZ дважды прекращали деятельность (с 1987-го по 2007-ой и с 2014-го по 2019-ый), а в их дискографии шесть концертников, несколько бокс-сэтов и всего три полноформатных альбома. В 2020-ом состоялся выход четертого альбома "Born Innocent", после чего Боннет разругался с группой и покинул ее, заявив что продолжит выступать под именем ALCATRAZZ c другим составом. "V" - пятый полноформатный альбом ALCATRAZZ, вышедший 15-го октября 2021-го на Silver Lining Music. После конфликта с Боннетом и его ухода, место вокалиста занял Doogie White (ex-RAINBOW, ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, CORNERSTONE). В качестве гостей на альбоме выступили Nigel Glockler (барабанщик SAXON), Cliff Evans (гитарист TANK, ex-KILLERS) и Don Van Stavern (басист RIOT V, ex-EVIL UNITED). Comprising of two tracks nearing twenty minutes a piece, “Hierophant Violent” is a delicate and hypnotic sensory experience incorporating a myriad of styles and influences to craft a work of art which is cathartic and illuminating. Each track is a journey unfolding different aspects of the band’s sound, drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Low, Leviathan, Skepticism and Dead Can Dance. As the band states: Forlesen's "Hierophant Violent" is an immersive, lush, psychedelic blend of dark ambient, epic doom, slowcore and shadowy black metal. It was conceived during a time of immense personal loss and emerged as something both beautiful and terrifying to us. We hope it will give the same feelings of shadow exploration to our Listeners. Featuring members of Lotus Thief, Botanist, and Kayo Dot among others, “Hierophant Violent” is a brilliant debut from a cadre of musicians already in top form who have lent their efforts to a new vision. Appropriately transfixing artwork by Benjamin A. Vierling (Aosoth, The Ajna Offensive, Joanna Newsom) will adorn this album, which will be presented as a 6 panel digipack. With The End In Mind is an ever-changing musical entity based in the Salish Sea region of the Pacific Northwest. Initially conceived as a solo project, WTEIM has grown over the years to include many unique and talented collaborators. Harnessing the primal power of black metal, as well as elements of dark folk, drone/ambient, and classic psychedelia, With The End In Mind is dedicated to the sonic exploration of these supposed end times, and all the possibilities for new ways of Being that will rise from the ashes. This project will always be strongly inspired by those who fight against the shackles of oppression, for the sake of Wildness and freedom. Tides Of Fire, the second full length album from the project, is a charred elegy for a world careening off of the precipice. The seeds of these songs were sifted from the ashes of smoldering landscapes, as vast swathes of the West Coast of North America burned. This work is an exploration of internal and external purging; all the suffering, fear, and anxiety that the titanic forces of Nature exert over our lives, and the hidden light that can be found within when it seems that all is lost. It is a journey of death, renewal and the resilience of the human Spirit. A significant sonic departure from previous releases, Tides Of Fire is propelled by a dense, aggressively percussive core. Two full drum kits, auxiliary percussion, and layers of guitars are utilized to create an utterly unique and intense experience. Gripping spoken word, intricate folk melodies, and murky psychedelic passages also find their way to the surface when the metallic fury subsides. This is a work that simply overflows with raw emotion; helpless rage, deep love, and awe-filled reverence.

HATE - польская метал группа, сформированная в 1990-м году в Варшаве и исполняющая агрессивную смесь из black и death metal. Первоначально коллектив существовал под названием INFECTED (а чуть позже как SOMUCHHATE), но уже в 1991-м его сократили до HATE. В дискографии HATE несколько демок, EP, пара компиляций и одиннадцать полноформатных альбомов, а из оригинального состава на сегодняшний день остался только основатель группы, гитарист/вокалист Adam "the First Sinner" Buszko. "Rugia" - двенадцатый полноформатный альбом HATE, вышедший 15-го октября 2021-го на Metal Blade Records. Вся работа над альбомом прошла в польской студии Hertz Studio с декабря 2020-го по май 2021-го под надзором братьев Sławek'a и Wojtek'a Wiesławski, работавшими с VADER, DECAPITATED, BEHEMOTH и многими другими, а также над половиной предыдущих релизов HATE. Оформлением "Rugia" занимался Daniel Rusiłowicz, работавший с HATE над предыдущими альбомами, а также с местными группами UNSUN и SALTUS. Релиз включает девять треков и выпущен в формате CD с 20-страничным буклетом
