The stunning debut full-length by this Australian band. Hailing from Sydney, Horrisonous formed in late 2015 and comprise a handful of hardened members of the local underground scene, including past or current members of such acts as Temple Nightside, Backyard Mortuary, The Slow Death, Illimitable Dolor and Pestilential Shadows among others. Not surprisingly, Horrisonous deliver aural slime, decay and misery by means of the ageless brand of Death Metal that's equally ponderous, crushing and fervent, enhanced with slithering tempos and influenced by the likes of Bolt Thrower, Asphyx, Autopsy, Death, early Paradise Lost, Celtic Frost, Carcass, Dismember and Incantation. They proved it on their debut EP, "The Plague Doctors", in 2016 and they proved it with the Asphyx and Celtic Frost covers comprising the follow-up "The Plague Doctors B-sides" EP two years later, and they fully prove it with their debut full-length, "A Culinary Cacophony". A cursory glance at some of the album's song titles ("Crispy Chunks of the Obese", "Nourishment Through Excrement", "Number of the Feast"...) and one could potentially assume Horrisonous are a hokey gore band. While their noses are no doubt in tune with life's foulest recesses, Horrisonous are deadly serious about their juggernauting Death Metal. Requisitely filthy as any Memento Mori release, "A Culinary Cacophony" digs deeply into the doom and serves up serious helpings of up-tempo gallop and blast. It is very hard to label this band, to tag this band. If you compare their music to fine arts - "Uncovered Fears" will be like canvas of many colors, hanging in a darkened room. It has everything good Rock or Metal album should have - arena choruses with well-thought-out guitars and rythm section. At a time when mediocrity pervades the music industry through and through, "Uncovered Fears" is a true gem to listen to. With its sincerity, deep emotion and immensity it should satisfy even the most picky listener. Accompanied with a beautiful 12-paged booklet, featuring some interesting artwork by the designer Pablo Antonoff, this CD becomes a great option for the fans of ALTER BRIDGE, ALICE IN CHAINS, GOJIRA, STONE SOUR, KATATONIA, MASTODON. Maeskyyrn is a black metal entity born of Montreal, Quebec, in 2017. It released a first demo, “Thoughts Of Shattered Dreams,” in January 2018, and assembled as a live band. On October 17, 2019, the sky will turn black as Maeskyyrn prepares to reveal Interludes, their first full length, to the mortal world. With its raw guitars and tortured screams, the full band’s aesthetic is reminiscent of the second wave of black metal. But deep under its charcoaled skin, Maeskyyrn takes advantage of modern technologies, as can be seen in the drum recording, overall production, and layers of discrete background synth. Indeed, as the album title suggests, Maeskyyrn brings forth a number of atmospheric interludes, thus pacing the album with brief uncomfortable moments of respite, before dragging you into the darkest pits with a series of long, punishing tracks. The end result is a traditional but highly unorthodox black metal album, with hints of eclecticism that reveal themselves and grows on you upon each listen, slowly rotting you to the core. This album will appeal to fans of black metal in general, but also to those who have been following Hypnotic Dirge Records since its very first inception. XENTRIX - thrash metal группа, сформированная в 1984-м году в городе Прэстон (Англия). До 1988-го группа существовала под названием SWEET VENGEANCE и даже выпустила в таком виде 4-песенное дэмо. Почти сразу XENTRIX попали на лэйбл Roadrunner Records, где вышло три полноформатных альбома - "Shattered Existence" (1989), "For Whose Advantage?" (1990) и "Kin" (1992). Спустя год после выхода четвертого альбома "Scourge" (1996) группа распалась, разово собравшись для нескольких реюнион-шоу в 2006-м. THORNS - норвежская black metal группа, сформированная в 1989-м году и стоявшая у истоков жанра наряду с MAYHEM или DARKTHRONE. Выпустив всего два дэмо "Grymyrk" (1991) и "Trøndertun" (1992) проект обрел большую популярность в узких кругах, но вынужден был прекратить существование после того, как одного из основателей THORNS (гитариста/клавишника/вокалиста Snorre Westvold Ruch'а) посадили на 8 лет за "соучастие в убийстве" гитариста и идеолога группы MAYHEM Euronymous'а, организованное Варгом Викернесом. Освободившись, Snorre собрал неизданный материал и выпустил в виде сплита с группой EMPEROR в 1999-ом. "Thorns" - единственный полноформатный альбом норвежцев на сегодняшний день, вышедший в марте 2001-го на лэйбле Moonfog Productions. В записи приняли гостевое участие Satyr из SATYRICON и Hellhammer (MAYHEM, ARCTURUS). Данное переиздание (вышедшее в июле 2011-го на Peaceville Records) содержит два бонус-трека и видеоклип на трек "Vortex". Релиз выпущен в формате CD с 16-страничным буклетом совместно с лэйблом Metal Star. Тираж ограничен - 1000 вручную пронумерованных экземпляров. Officially licensed edition for CIS countries. "We have before us a joint conceptual work, which unites these bands in terms of views of life and death. According to musicians of Abstract Spirit and ENNUI, “Escapism” is a hopeless escape; the escape from everything… from yourself, from reality and disillusionment, escape from grim realities. “Escapism” stands for a willingness to readily face the soothing death, to get rid of life torments, burdens of miseries and disappointment. Lyrics are written in three languages: Russian for Abstract Spirit; English and Georgian for ENNUI. Art work for the split was made on basis of a work by Moscow modern dark art artist Pavel Lyakhov, who is famous for his gift to visually reflect experience of relationships with outward things in a frightening manner, which can make you go dotty. From the view point of music, one should consider this record to be a comprehensive piece of music art. At the same time either of the two bands reflected their own vision of funeral doom from the own view point using individual scale. Connecting traits are the fundamentality and the thoroughness of the tracks themselves. What has this record in store for an experienced listener? A horrible side-show… the opportunity to walk in shoes of a person, who lacks brain parts in charge of happiness and joy. "

ENTRAILS - death metal банда, сформированная в начале 90-ых на юге Швеции. Заслушиваясь DISMEMBER, GRAVE и конечно ENTOMBED, ENTRAILS сразу определились с будущим звучанием и начали активно репетировать. К сожалению, все попытки записать демо так и не увенчались успехом, и через несколько лет группа впала в спячку. В 2008 году ENTRAILS окончательно реформировались, укомплектовали концертный состав, и после пары демо-записей выпустили 2 альбома (2010' "Tales From The Morgue" и 2011' "The Tomb Awaits") на немецком лейбле FDA Rekotz. Шведов приметил лейбл Metal Blade Records, результатом чего стали альбомы "Raging Death" (2013), "Obliteration" (2015), "World Inferno" (2017) и ремастированная компиляция демок "Resurrected from the Grave" (2014). "Rise of the Reaper" - шестой полноформатный альбом шведов, вышедший 11-го октября 2019-го на Metal Blade Records. Сведением и мастерингом "Rise of the Reaper" (как и предыдущих студийных работ ENTRAILS) занимался легендарный Дан Сванё (BLOODBATH, EDGE OF SANITY, NIGHTINGALE) в студии Unisound. Оформление и обложку к альбому сделал Marc Niederhagemann (гитарист/вокалист немецкой death metal группы LIFELESS), работавший с MASTER, ENDSEEKER, ARTILLERY).
