funeral death doom metal, Solitude Productions
The fourth full-length album from Russian heavyweights in funeral doom death metal, convincingly showcasing the peak of the musicians' craftsmanship. The album continues the path of complicating the musical structure, which now incorporates powerful keyboards and trombone parts. There is also a further complexity in the structure of the lyrics, which unites all the compositions of the album into a single conceptual narrative. This confessional canvas presents the inner world of a hero who once succumbed to pride, having gone through internal catastrophes on a path washed by tears. The artwork, complementing the musical and lyrical components, is created by the artist Matvey Bobkov. The recording and mixing were done by Alexey Kostovitsky, with mastering by Evgeny Semyonov (Intaglio, When Nothing Remains, Mesmur, etc.). The album is released in two editions, including a limited edition (only 99 copies!) digipak with a booklet.

atmospheric doom metal, Ardua Music
Todomal are back with "A Greater Good", their new studio album. The Spanish duo formed by Christopher B. Wildman and Javier Fernández (Asgaroth, Nexus 6, The Heretic, Dejadeath, etc.) bring a collection of "dark songs" (as they like to define it), which began with the seeds planted in "Ultracrepidarian," their debut album, has evolved into a complex, dense, and unclassifiable album that takes us on a journey through somber landscapes, existential doubts, tragicomedy, and spiritual and personal unrest. "A Greater Good" poses challenging questions, wrapped in musicthat is sometimes dark and at other times luminous, spanning from slow-tempo to progressive rock to quasi-mystical litanies. The path they embarked upon with their debut album, leading to desolate landscapes and the emptiness of the plateau, has continued into darker territories, reminiscent of tenebrist altarpieces, where doubts about what is right or wrong, what we do in this world to earn redemption, or why we have a nefarious tendency to destroy what we love are depicted against a smoldering forest. The journey continues, despite the obstacles. "A Greater Good" boasts ambitious production to accommodate all its elements, like pieces of a giant mosaic. Vocal harmonies, acoustic elements, and occasional orchestral arrangements blend with serpentine opera-rock pieces, making their way by clawing through the earth. The sophomore album of this prolific space doom duo will no doubt appeal to fans of bands like CANDLEMASS, KRUX, PINK FLOYD, AVATARIUM and, we dare say, old GHOST!. Limited to 200 copies, 6 panel digipack

“There is darkness everywhere, in the serenity of our thoughts, deep encompassed into our very beings, on the endless canvas of our dreams. There is darkness inside the soil beneath our feet and in the heavens above us. A fad, tenebrous gloom enshrouded in suffering and misc., in the coming of time to pass once more guiltless and ignorant. There is a void, all-consuming and ruthless, an emptiness which expands to the very core of our souls, imploding, thundering and monstrous. An impending prophecy that stands the sands of time." melodic doom metal / post-rock, Ardua Music
WOODEN VEINS, formed by Chilean musicians mostly based in European countries, engages in classic melodic doom metal, combining it with progressive and gothic elements, exploring even further as they bring more heaviness and even some latin flavour into their sound. “In Finitude”, their debut album, got an excellent response from the media, ranking the album in many lists as one of the best of 2021, in specialised press and was even nominated for the best Metal Album in the Premios Pulsar Chile, the biggest Music Award for Chilean Music. Now WOODEN VEINS present us their second album “Imploding Waves”, a more complex and evolved work. This time the Chileans took a more progressive approach, expanding their stylistic boundaries, mixing darker, heavier and faster passages into their distinctive melodic and atmospheric elements.

stoner doom metal, Ardua Music
Originally formed in Madrid in 2007 as a new project from members of the seasoned bands Glow, Autumnal and Adrift, the band quickly developed their own identity and gained popularity, leading to their 2009 debut album "The Call of Shiva" being chosen as the best unsigned record by the readers of Terrorizer magazine. Gaining momentum with their next two full-lengths (2011's "Decline... Towers of Silence" and "Avesta" -2017-, as well as the EP "Deadly Lake" in 2014), the band increased their live activity, including an European tour with the blackened crust punks Khmer and support shows for diverse renowned artists like Godflesh, Baroness, Forgotten Tomb or Altar of Plagues, as well as celebrated sets at big festivals like Madrid is the Dark, Resurrection Fest, Doom Over Paris or Bracara Extreme Fest. On this new album the band pursues a more straightforward approach, with heavier shorter songs that still show the band's peculiar blend of sludge, different styles of doom and atmospheric metal, with massive wall breaking riffs, mesmerizing ambient passages and frontman and guitarist Juan Viguera's unique and emotive voice. The record’s lyrical concept revolves around the idea of becoming one with the cosmos after respecting Mother Nature’s creation, when we become dust from that dark star after trying to live a right and respectful life towards all other sentient beings. The impressive cover artwork has been created by Robert Hernández, one of the most prestigious tattoo artists in the world and the stellar production is courtesy of the band's longtime collaborator Carlos Santos (Wormed, Toundra) and Víctor García's (Adrift, Boneflower) crushing mastering. "Dust From a Dark Sun" is a fresh-sounding record that avoids pigeonholed stereotypes and will resonate with listeners who yearn for a sincere and moving experience from one of Spain’s most personal heavy acts. Would you come to the end of AATHMA's world?

melodic death metal, Ardua Music
It's just a fact that Chile is one of the most relevant countries when it comes to the doom metal scene these days. From pioneers like Poema Arcanus, Mar de Grises and Uaral to more recent acts like Procession, Mournument, Mourning Sun or Wooden Veins, there's something uncanny and unique about the way in which Chilean artists use melancholy as a vehicle for their gloomy music. Immersed is yet another promising project from those Pacific shores, led by multiinstrumentalist Cristian Durán and blending the sound of the genre's classics like Katatonia, Swallow the Sun or Ghost Brigade with proggier outlines à la Edge of Sanity, Novembre, old Opeth or even their fellow countrymen Mar de Grises. Yes, you'll hear those harmonized gloomy melodies you can find on most doom/death records, but also plenty of skillful solos and heavier parts, rounded up by the splendid production of Carlos Fuentes (Inanna, Sol Sistere) at the infamous Sonido Origen in Santiago de Chile..

dark metal, BadMoodMan Music

After many years of silence, Italian dark scene legends CULTUS SANGUINE are back, full of strength and inspiration, and with skills that have become perfectly honed. Their return presents dark metal at its purest, distilled into a deeper, darker, and doomier form.
Entitled "Dust Once Alive", the new album tells about the tragedy of the gray and mundane life, trudging along from day to day and approaching a sad ending. Signs, goals, and trail lights are no more than false illusions for these ultimately meaningless lives.
The recording was made at ADSR Studio by sound engineer Carlo Meroni, who’s known for working with many bands in the Italian extreme scene and is a master of his craft. The album’s mastering took place at the Moonhouse studio in Milan.
The release comes in a stylish four-page digipak with a booklet to complement the aesthetic pleasure of the dark art of CULTUS SANGUINE.

funeral doom metal, Solitude Productions
International death/funeral doom metal act MESMUR have returned to release their fourth album, entitled “Chthonic”. The title is based on the Greek word for "underworld", and where the band's previous albums have explored themes of cosmic entropy and earthly apocalypse, “Chthonic” looks to the spirit world for its inspiration. Formed as a collection of paranormal horror tales, it speaks of fabled entities making contact through the veil of sleep, summoning prey to subterranean depths, or haunting a post apocalyptic landscape. Musically, the album continues the trajectory that MESMUR have established through previous works. Featuring viola and cello performances from Brianne Vieira and guest organ from Kostas Panagiotou of UK funeral doom act Pantheist (for whom Jeremy and John of Mesmur recently contributed guitars and drums on their 2021 record “Closer to God”), “Chthonic” strikes a careful balance between melody and dissonance as it displays its haunted imagery. Crushing doom riffs are overlain with ethereal synths and cavernous vocals to build a dark and vivid atmosphere, and the intricate compositions utilize a narrative approach influenced as much by 70's progressive rock as by extreme doom metal. Like the band's previous two releases, the album features beautifully eerie and vibrant cover art from Ukrainian painter Vladislav Cadaversky.
