Deep melancholy and ancient longing permeates the heart and soul of Ukrainian music. DRUDKH capture that precious essence of sadness in their brand of Slavonic Heathen Metal. The cinematic, folk-influenced music of "Microcosmos" focuses on luxuriant atmospheres charged with strong emotions. Lyrically DRUDKH delve into nature mysticism, the passing of seasons, philosophy, Ukrainian mythology, legends and history – often inspired by the works of nineteenth and twentieth century Ukrainian poets. Due to irritations regarding their motivations, DRUDKH decided to issue one public statement only, but again not to give interviews nor make use of any internet platform: "During all its history, the band followed a 'no photos, no interviews, no website, no gigs' policy, which was nobly accepted by DRUDKH's new label Season of Mist. Season of Mist now completes their successful venture of re-releasing DRUDKH’s complete back catalogue with “Estrangement”. Originally released in 2007, this album saw the Ukrainians return to their harsh Black Metal sound including blast beats, after the heavily Folklore inspired and partly acoustic “Songs of Grief and Solitude” (2006). With its clear and dark songwriting the band created an album that could nearly be called catchy, considering the genre, and even features some haunting solo parts. The lyrics on “Estrangement” are entirely derived from the words of the Ukrainian poet Oleh Olzhych. This masterpiece is now made available again in a much improved packaging.
