After two critically beloved records on Seventh Rule and Profound Lore ATRIARCH make their Relapse debut with their finest moment yet. Blending death rock, doom, black metal, punk and psychedelic drone/noise ATRIARCH immediately establish themselves as one of the most creative and compelling heavy-music bands of the 21st century. Imagine Bauhaus as covered by Eyehategod, or Sisters of Mercy filtered through Neurosis, and you start to get the picture of what ATRIARCH has achieved on their new record. Once every few years a band comes along that takes the familiar and creates something wholly new. ATRIARCH have done just that with An Unending Pathway. credits

Ritualistic, apocalyptic noisemakers ATRIARCH are back with their fourth offering of mind-altering, doom-soaked, death rock entitled Dead As Truth. Recorded and mixed by Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios (Om, Graves At Sea, Vhol) and featuring artwork by Stevie Floyd (YOB, Dark Castle), Dead As Truth sees ATRIARCH venture deeper into the blackened abyss with haunting incantations, exotic drones, and crushing aural experimentations that boldly embrace death's cold heart. Fragments of post-punk, gothic doom, black metal, sludge, and noise complement the band's desolate universe and further supplement their most immediate and formidable release to date. ATRIARCH prescribe the order that there is but one truth and that is death.

Southern metal super group Birds of Preys' Sulfur And Semen transcends geographical boundaries by also transcending musical boundaries - it's too fast for sludge, too grimy for death, too precise for punk and way heavier than the current crop of retro-rock revivalists.

Formed by members of Sutcliffe Jugend and Whitehouse, Bodychoke was a noisy rock anomaly as powerful and provocative as its name would suggest. The bands long out-of-print final album, the bleak and depressing creative apex known as Cold River Songs, has been given the deluxe reissue treatment; the album is remastered to include 3 bonus tracks and repackaged to include first-ever printing of the bands incendiary lyrics. Criminally underrated and underexposed, Cold River Songs is intense and ground-breaking!

Posehn has never been more hilarious than on 'Fart & Weiner Jokes,' the new release featuring two more thrashing songs with his all-star band. Brian Posehn is the Slayer of comedy!

The album sees CEREMONY at the height of their creative output, as the always-evolving Rohnert Park quintet take various influences from post punk and rock to create one of the summer's most compelling and infectious records. "In the Spirit World Now" is full of layered sonic fury and anxiety, each song building up to a point and then descending down through a militant, catchy hook. “Turn Away the Bad Thing” sets the tone, guitars climbing around the driving bass line, as Ross Farrar sings, “It’s getting harder for me to be alright/Eyes adjusting to the dark/The momentum of all these last resorts built inside of me.” Songs like “Presaging the End” and “Calming Water” feel romantic and distressed, while “Further I Was” and “Years of Love” are driven by Farrar’s rebellious energy as he repeats the hook with a deadpan realness. “Years of love can be forgotten/In the hatred of a day.” But the true stand-out is the title track, “In the Spirit World Now”, a haunting pop gem with a sticky chorus and lead synth riff that plants itself in your head as Farrar chants the track’s name over and over like a mantra. “In the Spirit World Now" is a sort of nebulous and ectoplasmic place where things may not be quite what they seem,” he says. “It means sh*t is about to get weird.” The album marks a milestone for this Northern California punk outfit who have stayed true to themselves as songwriters throughout massive sonic growth throughout their storied career.

Rightfully hailed as “the noisiest pop music on the planet” by Pitchfork, Austin, TX’s cult noise rock trio CHERUBS have been purveyors of sonic bedlam since their inception in 1991. After an unforeseen return to the scene from a two-decade hiatus in 2014, the CHERUBS have now joined forces with the equally revered Relapse Records for the release of their fifth long-player Immaculada High. Recorded and engineered by Erik Wofford (Explosions in the Sky, The Black Angels, My Morning Jacket) at Cacophony Studio in Austin, Immaculada High is 11 songs of signature CHERUBS clamor with an added twist of Texas-sized, psychedelic racket. Smooth, rumbling low-end rhythms interplay with feedback drenched, chuggin’ guitars, relentless tone and vocalist Kevin Whitley’s shrill, life-of-the-LSD-party vocals. On Immaculada High, CHERUBS loudly proclaim their title as bonafide noise rock legends who continue to forge transgressive yet remarkably accessible punk for a jaded world.

Inspired by the harsh, rural landscapes of Indiana which they call home, CLOAKROOM drift through a range of emotions and styles on their sophomore full-length Time Well. Fuzzy and depressive. Expressive and expansive. An amalgam of doomy stoner rock, psychedelic shoegaze and moody, pop-influenced, sonic abrasion, Time Well is 10 songs and 60+ minutes of crunchy, guitar-driven atmosphere and downbeat rhythms layered atop deceptively sweet and tranquil melodies. At times crushingly heavy, others gorgeously contemplative, CLOAKROOM write music with purpose and intent; to dissolve from this world into an infinite blur. CD in standard jewel case, with 8 page booklet.

Give Them Rope, the first proper full-length from this wildly influential, trail-blazing hardcore band, blew minds upon its original 1997 release. The record took hardcore’s urgency into an altogether heavier, more angular and discordant direction than any of the bands progenitors before them. This repackaged, remastered edition of the original album comes complete with extensive liner notes from COALESCE guitarist Jes Steineger, as well as a 2nd disc with 2004’s ‘Give Them Rope She Said V2.0 featuring an alternate mix and mastering job of the entire Give Them Rope album’.

Horseback’s young but varied catalog has been remarkable in its ability to capture distinctly different subgenres of heavy music with impressive virtuosity: drone, doom, black-metal, psychedelia, post-rock, noise etc etc. With ‘Half Blood’, Horseback’s first true ‘new release’ for Relapse, the band’s mastermind Jenks Miller has brilliantly managed to throw all of those styles into one seamless album. ‘Half Blood’ naturally shifts from Americana twang to fiercely evil buzzing guitars to hypnotically meditative kraut-drone with a level of confidence that takes other bands years to master. Horseback’s ‘Half Blood’ is Neurosis on a Neil Young overdose, Earth after being locked in a room with Merzbow for weeks straight. This is an album at once immediately captivating as well as rewarding for those who treasure music that reveals new twists and turns with repeated listens.

Nineteen tracks explode like IED's and spread with the subtlety of sonic napalm, driven froth by punishing low-end distortion and the machine-gun drumming of Bryan Fajardo. KILL THE CLIENT have reached a new apex with 'Set for Extinction', and in the process created a post-millenial classic.
