Epitimia's new double-album "(Un)reality" is a culmination of over a year's hard work for the Saint-Petersburg based band which has been working on an expansive and ambitious follow-up to their last album "Faces of Insanity" released in the summer of 2012. "(Un)reality" includes lots of new innovations and interesting ideas on both the musical and conceptual sides and could easily be considered their most accomplished effort to date. Tortured black metal screams alongside a progressive and experimental cacophony of sounds combine to create a truly memorable and complex album taking various elements from many genres including post-rock, black metal, blackgaze, ambient, and jazz to create the sonic palette for this conceptual story. Female vocalist “M.” is also present on the album once again as well as very interesting session work from the saxophonist D’arcy Molan (from the debut Subterranean Disposition album) whose contributions appears throughout the album. Released in a deluxe 6 panel digipack with an additional 12 page booklet and augmented with artwork from Mayhem Design in Russia, this is certainly Epitimia’s magnum opus! “(Un)reality is like limbo, the world where the hero lingers. His day life here is infinite and artificial, but his dreams fill his mind with bright new images, odd flashbacks, and the reminiscence of his other lives. These visions are the keys to understanding what is happening to him, and may be the only chance to escape. “Delusion” contains the dark images of objective reality while “Illusions” is a moment in which all his dreams merge: hope, love and as the most important – the desire for truth, by which he will be free forever.”

With The End In Mind is an ever-changing musical entity based in the Salish Sea region of the Pacific Northwest. Initially conceived as a solo project, WTEIM has grown over the years to include many unique and talented collaborators. Harnessing the primal power of black metal, as well as elements of dark folk, drone/ambient, and classic psychedelia, With The End In Mind is dedicated to the sonic exploration of these supposed end times, and all the possibilities for new ways of Being that will rise from the ashes. This project will always be strongly inspired by those who fight against the shackles of oppression, for the sake of Wildness and freedom. Tides Of Fire, the second full length album from the project, is a charred elegy for a world careening off of the precipice. The seeds of these songs were sifted from the ashes of smoldering landscapes, as vast swathes of the West Coast of North America burned. This work is an exploration of internal and external purging; all the suffering, fear, and anxiety that the titanic forces of Nature exert over our lives, and the hidden light that can be found within when it seems that all is lost. It is a journey of death, renewal and the resilience of the human Spirit. A significant sonic departure from previous releases, Tides Of Fire is propelled by a dense, aggressively percussive core. Two full drum kits, auxiliary percussion, and layers of guitars are utilized to create an utterly unique and intense experience. Gripping spoken word, intricate folk melodies, and murky psychedelic passages also find their way to the surface when the metallic fury subsides. This is a work that simply overflows with raw emotion; helpless rage, deep love, and awe-filled reverence.

Mournument - Smouldering Into Dust (CD) Digipak

Mournument started activities in 2021 after Niklas (Deveneror, ÆRA, Forestfather, Flesh Configuration) and A.P. (Sol Sistere, Concatenatus, The Ancient Doom) met and discussed the creation of a new artistic vessel, considering some musical styles that has not been well explored in their home country Chile, taking aspects of the deepest and most emotional tunes of traditional Chilean folklore, combined with a melancholic Doom Metal approach. After a few months of hard work, a full length album was created, and the experienced drummer C. Krono (Favna Abisal, The Ancient Doom) was recruited to complete the band’s line up. Mournument will not hesitate in showing stark influences from fellow countrymen Uaral while embracing the melancholy of Agalloch or Estatic Fear together with the folk spirit of Empyrium. Their music is melancholy with elegantly adorned melodies which lulls the listener into a feeling of catharsis together with the funeral speech that the band presents to us. Originally formed in Madrid in 2007 as a new project from members of the seasoned bands Glow, Autumnal and Adrift, the band quickly developed their own identity and gained popularity, leading to their 2009 debut album "The Call of Shiva" being chosen as the best unsigned record by the readers of Terrorizer magazine. Gaining momentum with their next two full-lengths (2011's "Decline... Towers of Silence" and "Avesta" -2017-, as well as the EP "Deadly Lake" in 2014), the band increased their live activity, including an European tour with the blackened crust punks Khmer and support shows for diverse renowned artists like Godflesh, Baroness, Forgotten Tomb or Altar of Plagues, as well as celebrated sets at big festivals like Madrid is the Dark, Resurrection Fest, Doom Over Paris or Bracara Extreme Fest. On this new album the band pursues a more straightforward approach, with heavier shorter songs that still show the band's peculiar blend of sludge, different styles of doom and atmospheric metal, with massive wall breaking riffs, mesmerizing ambient passages and frontman and guitarist Juan Viguera's unique and emotive voice. Started in Finland in the Summer of 2019, Autumnfall is a creation of Jussi Hänninen (ex-Fall of the Leafe, The Bleak Picture), conceived as spiritual successor to Fall of the Leafe’s early works. Soon after writing the first song Hänninen asked T. Ruohonen to join as the vocalist. A four track demo was released in late 2019 and it was during this time that Ruohonen asked O. Pirkkanen to join for the drum duties. Autumnfall pays tribute to FOTL first albums when mixing melodic black metal with some death metal elements while adding modern atmospheres and melodies. The first full-length album "Ghosts of Light" was written and recorded between 2019 and 2020, then mixed, mastered and digitally released in 2021. It was suppose to come out in physical format in 2021 but the plans fell through due to various reasons.

"Bleak" was written and recorded just one year after GoL (between 2021 and 2022) and it was mixed again by Eero Seppälä in Blacksmith Audio. Originally released by Defiled Records in 1998, "Evanescent, Everfading" was the debut album of Finland based act Fall Of The Leafe. During the first years since their inception in 1996, FotL found their own way of playing black/death metal with folk influences based on guitarist Jussi Hänninen harmonies and Jani Lindström vocals. The band entered legendary Tico-Tico studios in 1997 to record their first full length and from the Maidenesque opener "The Celestial Keeper" to the closing "Evanescent, Everfading", FotL delivers a 40 minutes unique masterclass of melodic death metal with black feels to take the listener on a journey to enjoy the sweet taste of 90s. Did you say Amorphis or Insomnium? It would be fair saying Fotl set the stage for them. The band took new musical directions with their sophomore album but "Evanescent, Everfading" proudly stands as one of the most unique creations of late 90s metal in Finland and Jussi started Autumnfall in 2019 to continue FotL early works legacy.

Voidhaven - Lithic (CD) Digipak

In 2016 a five-person expedition from Hamburg, who had set out towards the unknown, established a base on newfound ground. The crew – consisting of seasoned doom metal veterans also hired on vessels like Ophis, Fvneral Fvkk or Remembrance – claimed the place as their own, named it Voidhaven and used it as origin for the distribution of their artistic cargo. The exported wares combine various components to spread an atmosphere of oppressive, yet harboring gloom. Lyrically, they incorporate skeptical world watching, critical reflection of social relations, addressing inner struggles and spinning haunting tales. Musically, they blend a foundation of Melancholic Doom Metal with elements from Death Metal. The first goods in form of the “Voidhaven”-EP were shipped in collaboration with Solitude Productions in 2018. Overcoming a line-up change on the drums, an unplanned break due to a pandemic and personal circumstances dispiriting the crew, they hired fleet admiral Jens Ballaschke to produce new wares in October 2022.

Todomal are back with "A Greater Good", their new studio album. The Spanish duo formed by Christopher B. Wildman and Javier Fernández (Asgaroth, Nexus 6, The Heretic, Dejadeath, etc.) bring a collection of "dark songs" (as they like to define it), which began with the seeds planted in "Ultracrepidarian," their debut album, has evolved into a complex, dense, and unclassifiable album that takes us on a journey through somber landscapes, existential doubts, tragicomedy, and spiritual and personal unrest. "A Greater Good" poses challenging questions, wrapped in musicthat is sometimes dark and at other times luminous, spanning from slow-tempo to progressive rock to quasi-mystical litanies. The path they embarked upon with their debut album, leading to desolate landscapes and the emptiness of the plateau, has continued into darker territories, reminiscent of tenebrist altarpieces, where doubts about what is right or wrong, what we do in this world to earn redemption, or why we have a nefarious tendency to destroy what we love are depicted against a smoldering forest. The journey continues, despite the obstacles. "A Greater Good" boasts ambitious production to accommodate all its elements, like pieces of a giant mosaic. Vocal harmonies, acoustic elements, and occasional orchestral arrangements blend with serpentine opera-rock pieces, making their way by clawing through the earth. The sophomore album of this prolific space doom duo will no doubt appeal to fans of bands like CANDLEMASS, KRUX, PINK FLOYD, AVATARIUM and, we dare say, old GHOST!.
