Swedish band The Deadists cannot be definitely classified: featuring sound elements of such different bands as Black Sabbath, Entombed, Hawkwind, High On Fire, Sleep, The Melvins и Neurosis they created their own unique sound. Fans of modern metalcore will love their powerful guitar riffs. Persent EP “Time Without Light” unlike its digital version features hidden track “Blizzard Of Nails”. Mastered by Goran Finnberg (Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Opeth, M.A.N.).

“Time Without Light” è l’ennessimo tassello stoner elaborato dalla scena svedese, buona musica che vale l’acquisto.

Minacious

Coming from Sweden, the land of Vikings, The Deadist assaults your ears with their heavy riffing and slow pace with their second EP. The music is basically Stoner Metal, but there is a lot more to this album then heavy riffing and stoner groove. From time to time they inject, straight to the jugular vein, doses of Hardcore, classical Doom Metal and even some Post-Rock influences. This is an evil marriage between the old and the new. An interesting approach, but one should remember that the main thing on this album is the heavy, fuzzy riffing. This is a very guitar-centred album. So if you are looking for heavy riffing, a distorted bass with a lot of weight, interesting drumming and whiskey fuelled vocals look no further.

Now we’re out of post rock land and in a stoner/sludge realm where there’s a hearty portion of Neanderthal riffs, shreds, bludgeoning percussion and sense of metal. I’ve heard many things but this one is yet another one that I can’t draw direct band comparisons to and that’s its strong point. I can hear some Sleep, Neurosis, Electric Wizard, Elder on here as there’s some cool doom tracks like the epic closer “Chase the Giving/Blizzard of Nails”. I need to really give this one a deeper listen as I somehow overlooked it the last two weeks I’ve had it and it rips, so take it form me that although this review is brief the album is not and it slays!!!!
