When I heard one of their songs on Solitude Productions, I just knew I had found something special. One friend stated that they sounded OK and kind of pleasant, I heard a band that was unique, talented, beautiful but very dark. Each instrument along with the vocals intertwine together to result in a sound masterpiece that comes together in a dark, melodic, and atmospheric sound that draws the listener in on the 1st track and builds until they are completely immersed in a soundscape that takes one from the loneliness of the inner mind to a blackened cosmos of the night sky filled with the eternity of the star-filled universe. Then, as the album reaches it's final track, it slowly returns the listener to the present leaving them with a feeling that they have just returned from a musical journey both sated but still yearning for more... I only hope that this band will come back with a 2nd album, and I recommend them to anyone who loves melodic doom both dark, beautiful, and introspective.

The debut album of Torrens Conscientium really leaves the listener alone with their thoughts. Not only because this record of atmospheric Doom Metal allows one to wander deep into the streams of sub-consciousness, but also because we are talking about a rather sensitive topic of Ukraine. Especially knowing that this trio comes from the Crimean city of Simferopol... Sadly the poison of the geopolitical snake doesn’t allow us to judge everything objectively. Maybe there’s no single answer to such a question...
If we pushed the political questions aside, we’d see cold, atmospheric Death/Funeral Doom Metal fields in front of our eyes. Slow, melancholic riffs, low male growl and a pinch of sweetness, or on the contrary - whispers and traces of melody. Overall the album breathes with dramatic or even tragic mood. The essence of Torrens Conscientium reminds me of a mix between Draconian and Desire, filtered through Funeral Doom expression. There are more keyboard parts, which add atmosphere, space, emotion and coldness. A pleasant and clear record, good performance. While the disc doesn’t offer something super exceptional or new, “All Alone with the Thoughts” is pleasant and appealing. Death/Doom, Gothic and Funeral Doom Metal in one - such combination has some charm on its own.

Russian extreme bands. There's a few of 'em. Currently at home on Solitude Productions (where else?), Torrens Conscientium have taken five years from their inception to produce this, their first full length - 'All Alone With The Thoughts'. After first listen, the coupling of this notion, together with the fact that there's no 'actual' drummer mentioned by name anywhere, had my initial preconceived ideas and prejudices running rampant. Another irrational bias came from the initial glimpse of the album cover, which gave the impression that the music could go one of two ways. Firstly into the hellish mire of some pompously over produced Nightwish-style nightmare, or secondly and in this case most thankfully, into the realms of half decent atmospheric Death/Doom.

Track one, serving as an intro, continued this 'will it - won't it' discourse a few moments further by behaving as though it might lead straight into the first song before a rather suprising fade out left me wondering where I was and what was coming next. What did come next was some passable Death/Doom with an epic/atmospheric fringe to it. The fringe in question, though, distinctly resembling something along the lines of the well worn denim or leather collars of metal, rather than some lacy, faux-Gothic choker; and while its appeal may well stretch into those antediluvian realms a Metal album this most definitely is, albeit one heavily disguised by its Death/Doom stylings.

Textured guitars and lengthy power chords are in plentiful supply, somewhat reminiscent of mid-period Anathema, (think 'Judgement', but with Darren White still in the band), and although Torrens Conscientium are a bit more intense, both bands share a subtlety and a certain sensitivity that here refuse to lie down under the weight of the heavier guitars and vocals. Double bass drumming which sounds like a machine helps to give the occasional illusion of momentum in an otherwise decidedly mid tempo affair, while the keyboards cleverly expound two different nuances within the music. On the one hand they offer a soothing cloak of comfort, while at the same time keeping an air of gravitas about the place, adding an epic pretension to the plodding atmospheric qualities of the music.

The production is excellent though, and one of the reasons the songs, and the album itself has the overall impact it does. The lyrics aren't exactly Blake but they don't have to be, it's more about the delivery here than it is the content. The music is competently played and sung well enough, and certainly has a distinctive appeal, but to me, this is an entry-level Death/Doom album at best. It'll get you through the Doomy door, but once inside you'll be heavily distracted by the many far superior works on offer.

The album 'takes place' at night, each track between the book-end instrumentals ('When the Day is Gone' and 'The Dawn') is a contemplation, as the title suggests, on some of the mental paraphernalia that can keep the grey matter ticking morosely away until daylight. Torrens Conscientium are also rightly conscious that something a touch more emotional is always at play where insomnia is concerned and they've written a reasonable album about it. 'Reasonable' might not put this debut in the 'classic' category, but it's not a bad start, and in any case, given another five years, anything could happen.

Ennyi egyelőre a csapat mérlege.

A megszólalása a hangszernek zsír profi, a stúdiómunka párját ritkitó.

Det slippes mye musikk i Шst-Europa for tiden, men kvaliteten varierer sterkt.
De ga ut en demo i 2012, og debuterer med All Alone With The Thoughts, hvor de presenterer syv lеter, hvorav de fire lengste varer i omlag еtte minutter.

All Alone With The Thoughts er spilt inn og mikset i Blacklight Recording Studio som ogsе aktшrer som Khors, Luna og Semargl har besшkt. Vokalen kunne med fordel hatt litt mer klang, men lyden er generelt klar uten е bli for glatt.

"All Alone With The Toughts" è l'album di doom atmosferico più bello che abbia ascoltato negli ultimi anni.
