It makes sense that the new album from The Lemonheads feels like a cool mix tape slipped to you by a music-obsessed friend anxious to turn you on to something new. VARSHONS was produced by Haynes, mixed by ex-Cornershop guru Anthony Saffrey, and features Dando along with Vess Ruhtenburg (bass) and Devon Ashley (drums). The collection is filled with strange bedfellows - from G.G. Allin to Texas troubadour Townes Van Zandt and garage rockers The Green Fuz. The Lemonheads make each track their own, with help from actress Liv Tyler, singing back up on Leonard Cohen’s “Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye,” and Kate Moss, who sings over the dance groove of Arling & Cameron’s “Dirty Robot,” Also featured on lead guitar and backing vocals throughout most of the album is John Perry, on loan from The Only Ones. Filled with obscure nuggets, the tracks on VARSHONS cut a wide swath, jumping from early British psychedelic to Dutch electronica and like all good mix tapes, you never know what is coming next.

"Rastos de Sangue e fragmentos da Tradi?§??o" (Trails of Blood and fragments of The Tradition) is the second part of the trilogy "The Empty Circle" by The Joy of Nature. It reflects and gathers fragments of the Perennial Tradition. Naturally, it is also about the Spiritual inheritance of the Portuguese ancestors. Musically, it"s the most song-orientated The Joy of Nature release until now, with its roots in the folk tradition of rural Portuguese regions (it includes three covers of traditional songs), especially the Azores. the album is not just a Folk-album, it also has several amazing psychedelic moments. In this second part a lot more instruments were used and more musicians collaborated, like R. Coutinho, B. Ardo (Sangre Cavallum), Rui Almeida (Massa ??ltima), Triarca, Mara Neves and M.J. Not only a reaction against the modern world, but an alternative to this post-modern world.The Joy of Nature is a multimedia project from the Azores, with music as its main focus (the Azores are a group of 9 islands between Europe and North America, belonging to Portugal) . It was created in 1999 as "The Joy of Nature and Discipline", and reduced to "The Joy of Nature" in 2006, following a change in its sound - more organic and acoustic. Musically, "The Joy of Nature" is like a serpent always renewing itself - never resting in one shape, changing the form but keeping the same essence. 14 songs / 65 min.

After a debut EP and collaborative split album, “Natural Extinctions”is their first full-length album which explores the inability of human beings to preserve their innocence and the bond with nature during their existence. The focus on “Natural Extinctions” is to merge extreme metal with the suggestive language of drone / ambient and ritual music, highlighting in some ways the "percussive" side of their music. This isn't an ordinary concept album but, actually, there is a hidden thread connecting the 7 tracks, relating the inevitable destiny of every human being to inhibit, suppress and lose, along his life, some of the most pure and atavistic aspects of their own soul, to adapt and live with the hostile environment that surrounds him. Adaptability on the one hand strengthens and leads to move forward, but, on the other hand, corrupts and makes us lose the most spiritual and pure side of us: the most precious.

The second full length album of the Australian band The Dead is a brilliant mix of twisted, brain-warping death metal and miasmic sludgy/stoner doom. Perfectly arranged to maintain a sublime, engrossing balance, the combination of sharp, visceral hooks and massive doom trudges with remarkably groovy parts render Ritual Executions one of the most unique and fascinating albums to be released in this era. The remixing and remastering done by Aphotic Mote (Portal) specially for this DC Records version makes the originally dense and suffocating Ritual Executions much more breathable but retains the rawness and underground vibe that bring The Dead to life. The modified artwork sketched by vocalist Mike Yee suitably captures the essence and horrific otherworldly feel of The Dead"s music - only a band member could achieve that.

Finnish dark doom death metal duo The Bleak Picture was founded in 2021 as a side project of Jussi Hänninen (Autumnfall/Fall of the Leafe) and Tero Ruohonen (also vocalist at Autumnfall). Their first promo was written, recorded and digitally released the same year with a follow up CD/Vinyl version in 2022, with the addition of real drums. They didn’t stop there but begun work on their debut album ”Meaningless” and finally, after what feels like an eternity, the album will be released in March 22nd 2024 by Ardua Music on CD and on all major digital platforms. Bleak and desolate, without forgetting beautiful melodies, THE BLEAK PICTURE dives deep into murky waters that can also be called melodic death doom metal. The band’s doomy riffage borders on death metal heaviness, but the music manages to escape from the shallows of repetitiveness continuing in the atmospheric groove traced by the band's acclaimed first EP, with greater emphasis on dark melodies that wrap the songs in a cosmic shroud of stars. The vocal lines frequently alternate registers, offering haunted wailing cleans, catchier verses and dread-filled death calls. The sound is instantly familiar with nods to the ‘90s, but never sounds retro or like mere homage. For fans of old Katatonia, Paradise Lost, Dolorian, Swallow the Sun, Counting Hours or Killing Joke. Released as jewel case CD, first pressing of 200 copies.
