gothic doom death, Solitude Productions
The new album by Portuguese band A Dream of Poe presents the evolution of the band musical style from gothic doom metal through melodic doom death to traditional form of doom metal, with its solemn riffs, tragic clean vocals and epic guitar solos. «An Infinity Emerged» is a continuation of the previous album «The Mirror of Deliverance». The sound of the album became more dense as compared to the previous work and reached a new level of the recording quality, which allows to better feel for the work of the musicians and plunge into the atmosphere of the album. Five long tracks, with an average duration of 11 minutes, reflect the evolution of a character, defeated just after gaining consciousness that the practical side of things is always harder than the theoretical side and that all is knowledge of the world didn't prepare him for the experience. Symbolically, the album is a process of destruction, as the initial stage of the renovation process (which corresponds to the symbolism of the card "Tower" from the Tarot deck), so the themes of death, murder, and the constant reference to water as a symbol of change are essential for «An Infinity Emerged». The album features Kostas Panagiotou (Pantheist, Clouds, Wijlen Wij) who performed keyboards. The first 100 copies of the album are issued as a strictly limited digipack!

funeral doom metal, Endless Winter
Texas' In Oblivion solemnly marched onto the funeral doom scene in 2015 with their self-titled EP, and have returned to present their debut full-length, "Memories Engraved in Stone". The hour-long opus contains four songs of misery, sorrow, woe, and mourning that craft an atmosphere that is sure to drag even the most jubilant listener into the depths of desolation. The album was recorded over a period of over two years and was produced by AMP Studios maestro Michael Day (Vex, Whore of Bethlehem), causing In Oblivion's sound to be taken to the next level of aural grief. "Memories Engraved in Stone" is an immersive composition containing wailing guitars, regal keyboards, and crashing percussion that demands a listener's full attention. Upon the release of "Memories Engraved in Stone", In Oblivion will return to the live circuit and will begin writing and recording new material. Oblivion calls....

Where ‘A Disease for the Ages’ and even ‘The Sullen Sulcus’ were roaring, upfront, wall-of-sound albums, the songs on ‘Formless’ rely on a construct of layered tones and subtle dynamic to swell to their inevitable crescendos. Disc 2 Containing a single track, ‘Transmission’, it shows the band pushing further out into unknown territory. A hypnotic, spiraling delicate guitar motif repeats indefinitely, echoing into the void with a single resonating bass note providing the anchorage as Moore weaves his cryptic, apocalyptic language throughout. Recorded and mixed in Foel Studios October 2012.

funeral doom metal, Dusktone
Through 4 tracks mixing funeral doom with ambient and darkwave, Until Death Overtakes Me explores the idea of life being incomplete unless it passes death's threshold. Antemortem (before death) is not a glorification of death, but focusses on the path to it. Life with its pains and terrors might long for the end, but could just as well explore the freedom that comes with accepting the inevitable. The contrast between heavy distorted guitars and ethereal ambient melodies mirrors life, but offers an open ending - is life a pained struggle, where one is shoved forwards, closer to death all the time, forcing one to blindly squeeze as much meaning out of every moment, or is it rather a calm stream that gently carries one to the completion of a journey that's best experienced with eyes wide open, regardless of what may come after? More likely, both aspects remain at play : primal instincts balanced by intelligent rationality. Antemortem is the first Until Death Overtakes Me album after a long hiatus, and forms a bridge between the periods before and after this break. The track 'Before' dates back to late 2003, 'Days Without Hope' is based on a track that's even older by several years, and best marks the point in time where Until Death Overtakes Me went from darkwave/doom to ambient funeral doom. On the other hand there are the tracks 'The Wait' and 'Inevitability', both from 2016. 'The Wait' is more a experimental, almost mechanical sounding epic, while 'Inevitability' is an instrumental marking the acceptance of the concept of 'Antemortem', as well as its conclusion.

pagan metal, More Hate Productions
Debut full-length album by pagan metal band from Irkutsk includes songs composed between 2008-2010. However on this album they have finally formed an entity both from ideological and musical sides."Pod pokrovom vekov" (Under the pall of the centuries) is a kind of a bottom line drawn under the early works of the band. This album represents an attempt to get a glimpse of the world of our primogenitors and to evaluate the path from the Early Rus’ up to the present days and to sing of all the good things and to share the hate towards all the hostile and vile things. This idea can be traced throughout the whole album without prejudice to the individual value of each song. Musically the album represents a mixture of different genres of exterme metal (Black, Thrash, Death metal) coupled with folk melodies. The name of the CD and the artwork perfectly convey the concept and the atmosphere of the album.

doom metal, More Hate Productions
On the new opus this one-man band continues the development of a musical concept proposed with the previous album "Dark Days”. This depressive music attacks nervous system from the very first notes and creeps you out. The style of the band is referred to as doom metal though it is more similar to funeral metal – a funeral symphony for all mankind, it slowly flows like a viscous substance, pulsating and spreading mercury. Guitar riffs lowered down to the audible limit and howling fuzzy keyboard lines capable of driving the psyche of a healthy man to hopelessness and delirium are topped with the gloomy low unearthly growling by maestro Hangsvart. Awesome work for all fans of deviant art! CD artwork by Andrey T. from Montes Insania.

French-Canadian band Norilsk is back with a captivating new album, as thick and heavy as permafrost. Le passage des glaciers (The Passage of Glaciers) follows in the footsteps of 2015's album The Idea of North, but expands the sound considerably. From a sludgy slab of doom-death, the band has carved further into the icy influences of dark metal, to emerge with a blackened doom-death album tainted with frozen melodies, misty atmospheres, and reflective lyrical passages. As lyricist Nic Miquelon mentions, “Anyone who has followed us so far and enjoyed our musical landscape might be carried away into the distance with Le passage des glaciers. There is something of a personal journey in there, something that had to be experienced and mourned, and something that swallowed us whole when creating this.” While Le passage des glaciers is not a concept album, this new musical chapter has been written around the theme of mourning and departure. The artwork is signed by Sam Ford, who designed the artwork for the previous album The Idea of North. Sam worked closely with the band to develop an artistic continuity, yet a distinct visual atmosphere to the album, and integrating symbolism and referencing Canadian art. Death, like a magnetic North, is calling, and many are those who answer. It hypnotizes with its lullaby, carrying some into the distance, and leaving the others behind ...in the furrow left by the passing of glaciers. The album includes eight tracks, mostly in French, for a total duration of 44 minutes. 4 Panel Digipack

For almost 30 years THERION deserved a tribute album like no one else. Not because of the fact of their existence or decades on the scene, but at least for creating a genre "symphonic metal". Surely, dominating keyboards and female vocals were used in metal before THERION, but it was they, who approached it in a big way and could masterfully unite a magnificence of symphonic orchestras, classical operatic vocals and heavy guitar riffs. ´Theli´ and its successor ´Vovin´ are the cornerstones of symphonic metal that inspired many musicians to play this music, which led them to success. This album restored "historical justice" and gives tribute to the masters of the genre that keep their own unique style while performing as their songs, as also diverse covers from Abba to Manowar (let´s not also forget about the whole album that covers various songs from French 60-70s estrade). Official tribute album to Therion limited to 666 machine numbered copies in 2CD digibook. First CD includes eight cover songs recorded by Therion themselves + 2 covers of Therion made by Ivanubis Hollanda. Second CD features 16 covers of Therion made by various bands.

funeral death doom metal, Solitude Productions
The fourth full-length album from Russian heavyweights in funeral doom death metal, convincingly showcasing the peak of the musicians' craftsmanship. The album continues the path of complicating the musical structure, which now incorporates powerful keyboards and trombone parts. There is also a further complexity in the structure of the lyrics, which unites all the compositions of the album into a single conceptual narrative. This confessional canvas presents the inner world of a hero who once succumbed to pride, having gone through internal catastrophes on a path washed by tears. The artwork, complementing the musical and lyrical components, is created by the artist Matvey Bobkov. The recording and mixing were done by Alexey Kostovitsky, with mastering by Evgeny Semyonov (Intaglio, When Nothing Remains, Mesmur, etc.).

A novel work from Finnish band. EP “Angel” consists of three parts featuring more traditional doom-death metal style compared to their debut album. This makes their composition more monolithic both conception-wise and music-wise. Nevertheless, the band keeps their gloom and heaviness according to the genre requirements: the exceptional work for true lovers of the doom-death metal.

After a successful debut album “Unkindness...” Adfail, a Gothic Doom Metal band from Kaliningrad, Russia, are back with another full-length entitled “Is It a Game?”. Stylistically it continues the line of its precursor, but the quality of the music leaves no doubt that two years were not in vain for the band. This time Adfail have prepared a little less than an hour of diverse stuff: mid-tempo dynamic tracks are followed by atmospheric compositions, while the vocal varies from the extreme one to clean male and female singing. Another feature of the release is the use of viola which perfectly fits the sound of Adfail.

Named after Siberia’s northernmost city, home of a famous heavy metal smelting complex, Norilsk is a doom-death band from Gatineau (Québec), Canada. After releasing an EP, Japetus, in July 2014, Norilsk now unveils their debut album - “The Idea of North” in a glorious digipack edition on Hypnotic Dirge Records. “The Idea of North” is a doom-death album crafted for the winter season: it has slow and crushing riffs, death growls, and atmospheric arrangements. An evocation of an ominous presence over a vast wasteland, “The Idea of North” is a massive offering that triggers the imagination. Its music draws comparison with doom-death bands such as My Dying Bride, Morgion and Ablaze in Hatred, but it also has a few atmospheric sludge/post metal elements reminiscent of Isis and Morne. Inspired by the multi-faceted Canadian experience of the North, and assembled into a cold yet dynamic sequence of eight individual songs, the album explores themes of darkness, isolation, identity, archaism and persistence—thus delivering a fresh perspective over the cliché Nordic imagery in metal in general. “The Idea of North” was recorded at Studio En-Phase in Montreal by Jean-Philippe Latour (Paroxysm, Fuck the Facts, Talamyus), and mixed at Pebble Studios in Ottawa by Mike Bond (Dissentient, Endemise, Loviatar, Signs of Chaos), while the artwork was designed by professional artist Sam Ford, who also designed album artworks for Black Cobra, Witch Mountain and Monarch, among others.

The second album of the Ukrainian band does not follow popular trends in heavy music. It features the old good traditional doom death metal, just like at the first album by Crypt of Silence, which is mentally close to the first two albums of Mourning Beloveth, October Tide, My Dying Bride and the genre classics. This time the band, in their tries to demonstrate all the nuances of their skills to the audience, focused on the sound, having mixed and mastered the album at the Slow Burn Studio studio, previously worked with When Nothing Remains and Sorrowful Land.

Decemberance band from Athens, Greece is well established in the musical arena. Band celebrates it's 20th anniversary by releasing its second full-format album in its history. The album is titled Conceiving Hell. The artists demonstrated their remarkable skills and talents in the recording that lasts over 70 minutes and presented their view on how modern death doom might look like. The four tracks are very varied and atmospheric; they convey the feelings of mass hatred, despair and madness. Powerful old school guitar passages alternate with delicate cello parts and the tempo changes from fast to funeral. Still, the most important feature of the album are melodies of exceptional beauty that will not leave anyone untouched.
