Originally formed in Madrid in 2007 as a new project from members of the seasoned bands Glow, Autumnal and Adrift, the band quickly developed their own identity and gained popularity, leading to their 2009 debut album "The Call of Shiva" being chosen as the best unsigned record by the readers of Terrorizer magazine. Gaining momentum with their next two full-lengths (2011's "Decline... Towers of Silence" and "Avesta" -2017-, as well as the EP "Deadly Lake" in 2014), the band increased their live activity, including an European tour with the blackened crust punks Khmer and support shows for diverse renowned artists like Godflesh, Baroness, Forgotten Tomb or Altar of Plagues, as well as celebrated sets at big festivals like Madrid is the Dark, Resurrection Fest, Doom Over Paris or Bracara Extreme Fest. On this new album the band pursues a more straightforward approach, with heavier shorter songs that still show the band's peculiar blend of sludge, different styles of doom and atmospheric metal, with massive wall breaking riffs, mesmerizing ambient passages and frontman and guitarist Juan Viguera's unique and emotive voice. The record’s lyrical concept revolves around the idea of becoming one with the cosmos after respecting Mother Nature’s creation, when we become dust from that dark star after trying to live a right and respectful life towards all other sentient beings. The impressive cover artwork has been created by Robert Hernández, one of the most prestigious tattoo artists in the world and the stellar production is courtesy of the band's longtime collaborator Carlos Santos (Wormed, Toundra) and Víctor García's (Adrift, Boneflower) crushing mastering. "Dust From a Dark Sun" is a fresh-sounding record that avoids pigeonholed stereotypes and will resonate with listeners who yearn for a sincere and moving experience from one of Spain’s most personal heavy acts. Started in Finland in the Summer of 2019, Autumnfall is a creation of Jussi Hänninen (ex-Fall of the Leafe, The Bleak Picture), conceived as spiritual successor to Fall of the Leafe’s early works. Soon after writing the first song Hänninen asked T. Ruohonen to join as the vocalist. A four track demo was released in late 2019 and it was during this time that Ruohonen asked O. Pirkkanen to join for the drum duties. Autumnfall pays tribute to FOTL first albums when mixing melodic black metal with some death metal elements while adding modern atmospheres and melodies. The first full-length album "Ghosts of Light" was written and recorded between 2019 and 2020, then mixed, mastered and digitally released in 2021. It was suppose to come out in physical format in 2021 but the plans fell through due to various reasons.

Even with the setbacks occurred with the release of their earliest "Ghosts Of Light", the group didn't fall on idle state but instead begun their work for the follow-up album. This time in search of a more personal sound without leaving behind the atmospheres presented before. "Bleak" was written and recorded just one year after GoL (between 2021 and 2022) and it was mixed again by Eero Seppälä in Blacksmith Audio. Mastering duties this time were handled by Greg Chandler (Lychgate, Fleurety...) at Priory Recording Studios.

Originally released by Defiled Records in 1998, "Evanescent, Everfading" was the debut album of Finland based act Fall Of The Leafe. During the first years since their inception in 1996, FotL found their own way of playing black/death metal with folk influences based on guitarist Jussi Hänninen harmonies and Jani Lindström vocals. The band entered legendary Tico-Tico studios in 1997 to record their first full length and from the Maidenesque opener "The Celestial Keeper" to the closing "Evanescent, Everfading", FotL delivers a 40 minutes unique masterclass of melodic death metal with black feels to take the listener on a journey to enjoy the sweet taste of 90s. Did you say Amorphis or Insomnium? It would be fair saying Fotl set the stage for them. The band took new musical directions with their sophomore album but "Evanescent, Everfading" proudly stands as one of the most unique creations of late 90s metal in Finland and Jussi started Autumnfall in 2019 to continue FotL early works legacy.

In 2016 a five-person expedition from Hamburg, who had set out towards the unknown, established a base on newfound ground. The crew – consisting of seasoned doom metal veterans also hired on vessels like Ophis, Fvneral Fvkk or Remembrance – claimed the place as their own, named it Voidhaven and used it as origin for the distribution of their artistic cargo. The exported wares combine various components to spread an atmosphere of oppressive, yet harboring gloom. Lyrically, they incorporate skeptical world watching, critical reflection of social relations, addressing inner struggles and spinning haunting tales. Musically, they blend a foundation of Melancholic Doom Metal with elements from Death Metal. The first goods in form of the “Voidhaven”-EP were shipped in collaboration with Solitude Productions in 2018. Overcoming a line-up change on the drums, an unplanned break due to a pandemic and personal circumstances dispiriting the crew, they hired fleet admiral Jens Ballaschke to produce new wares in October 2022.

Vocal harmonies, acoustic elements, and occasional orchestral arrangements blend with serpentine opera-rock pieces, making their way by clawing through the earth. The sophomore album of this prolific space doom duo will no doubt appeal to fans of bands like CANDLEMASS, KRUX, PINK FLOYD, AVATARIUM and, we dare say, old GHOST!. Named after Siberia’s northernmost city, home of a famous heavy metal smelting complex, Norilsk is a doom-death band from Gatineau (Québec), Canada. After releasing an EP, Japetus, in July 2014, Norilsk now unveils their debut album - “The Idea of North” in a glorious digipack edition on Hypnotic Dirge Records. “The Idea of North” is a doom-death album crafted for the winter season: it has slow and crushing riffs, death growls, and atmospheric arrangements. An evocation of an ominous presence over a vast wasteland, “The Idea of North” is a massive offering that triggers the imagination. Its music draws comparison with doom-death bands such as My Dying Bride, Morgion and Ablaze in Hatred, but it also has a few atmospheric sludge/post metal elements reminiscent of Isis and Morne. Inspired by the multi-faceted Canadian experience of the North, and assembled into a cold yet dynamic sequence of eight individual songs, the album explores themes of darkness, isolation, identity, archaism and persistence—thus delivering a fresh perspective over the cliché Nordic imagery in metal in general. “The Idea of North” was recorded at Studio En-Phase in Montreal by Jean-Philippe Latour (Paroxysm, Fuck the Facts, Talamyus), and mixed at Pebble Studios in Ottawa by Mike Bond (Dissentient, Endemise, Loviatar, Signs of Chaos), while the artwork was designed by professional artist Sam Ford, who also designed album artworks for Black Cobra, Witch Mountain and Monarch, among others.

Following on the heels of their 2013 full-length “Once Hidden from Sight” and a 2016 split with Nethermost (USA), it’s hard not to notice the risen ambitions and wider scope presented on Vin de Mia Trix’s new double-album “Palimpsests”. The Kyiv-based band has always combined various doom metal genres and influences and aimed to create intelligent and touching, yet uncompromisingly heavy and dark music, but the songwriting depth, versatility, and atmosphere on “Palimpsests” is on another level compared to their past albums. Palimpsests is an album about archetypes, the stories and characters that exist deep inside our collective subconsciousness, stories so significant and influential that they appear in various peoples' and cultures' mythology. Concepts like rebirth through sacrifice, stealing knowledge from the gods, or the great cleansing flood can be found anywhere from Hinduism through Ancient Greek myths to Christianity, proving their importance in shaping societies and civilizations. These stories are told to this day, and “Palimpsests” album tries to retell them once again, adding to the eternal cycle. The name “Palimpsests” summarizes the spectrum of themes the band aims to convey and embodies the concept of multi-layered meanings and symbols expressed through musical, lyrical, and visual content. Musically, “Palimpsests” is rooted in Extreme Doom, venturing occasionally into the territories of Prog Rock and Post-Metal. Mixing and mastering were handled by Damon Good of the mighty Mournful Congregation, making sure the production quality matches the music's ambitiousness. The double album is presented as a 4-panel digipack with an exclusive 36-page booklet designed by the Kyiv-based Seri/graf Studio.

From a sludgy slab of doom-death, the band has carved further into the icy influences of dark metal, to emerge with a blackened doom-death album tainted with frozen melodies, misty atmospheres, and reflective lyrical passages. As lyricist Nic Miquelon mentions, “Anyone who has followed us so far and enjoyed our musical landscape might be carried away into the distance with Le passage des glaciers. There is something of a personal journey in there, something that had to be experienced and mourned, and something that swallowed us whole when creating this.” While Le passage des glaciers is not a concept album, this new musical chapter has been written around the theme of mourning and departure. The artwork is signed by Sam Ford, who designed the artwork for the previous album The Idea of North. Sam worked closely with the band to develop an artistic continuity, yet a distinct visual atmosphere to the album, and integrating symbolism and referencing Canadian art. Death, like a magnetic North, is calling, and many are those who answer. It hypnotizes with its lullaby, carrying some into the distance, and leaving the others behind ...in the furrow left by the passing of glaciers. Coming off the heels of their latest full-length album “Le passage des glaciers”, this fall the Canadian Death-Doom act Norilsk returns with a collection of new material linked in concept with its previous full-length while also showcasing Norilsk’s more collaborative and multi-faceted nature. It retains the band's signature sound developed on its two full-length albums, and brings forward further openness to an array of doom-related influences. The new mini-album, entitled “Weepers of the Land” is made up of four new compositions as well as a Mylene Farmer cover song (Tomber 7 fois), previously released in Russia on a limited edition compilation CD, and completely remixed. The new compositions include collaborations with other Canadian musicians including Damian Smith (Altars of Grief), Joshua Cayer (Longhouse), Ben Forte (North East Bistro, TGRE), and long-time collaborator Mort Marion (Outrage AD, Blood Moon Knights). “Weepers of the Land” should be viewed as a companion album to “Le passage des glaciers” as the songs were written and recorded during the same time period. The album will be presented in a 4 panel digipack with artwork from William Blair Bruce (1859-1906) and released worldwide on October 12, 2018.

Void Paradigm have been wandering the French underground for several years now, with members coming from different experiences and bands (Sordide, Ataraxie and Bethlehem, among others) . Debuting with a self-titled album in 2012, to which a sophomore record named Earth's Disease followed in 2015, they lurked in the shadows of Normandy for the following five years. Now the time has come for the Rouen-based trio to release a third chapter, the first one under the Avantgarde Music banner. Ultime Pulsation | Demain Brûle is actually two specific tracks, rather than your usual studio album, as the whole record consists in two songs of over nineteen minutes each. Composer and guitarist Julien Payan, said that “for these two long songs, I experimented with a kind of semi-automatic writing, letting my mind wander around the idea of a collapsing world. I wanted to have both versification and free words altogether, to fit the different atmospheres of the music”. Void Paradigm call their black metal dodecatonic,as Payan often relies on a twelve-scale composition technique, a method of composing with twelve tones which are related only with one another developed in the early XX Century. As Payan puts it: “As I try to experiment new ways of making black metal, I sometimes write the music literally on the desk and not searching for riffs on the guitar. I have a classical composition education so I try to compose like this, writing before playing, in order to break the automatic riffing and to try and go somewhere else”. “Ultime Pulsation”, the ultimate pulse, “evokes the unavoidable fall towards this final pulse of the world, of humanity, of civilisation, which seems to get closer and closer. “Demain Brûle” is "Tomorrow Burns", a personification which becomes something or someone hostile, unsafe, hazardous. Such are the feelings Void Paradigm bring into their music, a forceful, rabid and yet educated black metal. Issued in a 4-panel Digipak with clear tray and 8-page booklet.

Finnish dark doom death metal duo The Bleak Picture was founded in 2021 as a side project of Jussi Hänninen (Autumnfall/Fall of the Leafe) and Tero Ruohonen (also vocalist at Autumnfall).
